As well as many mental and physical health benefits, walking can help you feel part of your community and reduce loneliness and isolation.
Many people don't think of walking as being exercise. However you don't need to go to the gym, go swimming or play sports to get the benefits of being active.
Walking is a great way of reaching the recommended level of physical activity we need to stay healthy.
For walking to count towards your health
you should walk at a pace that increases your breathing speed and heart rate.
Taking a brisk walk can help you feel good about yourself, feel fitter, have more energy, reduce stress, reduce your blood pressure, manage your weight and sleep better.
Even after one of our short walks round the park, you will feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle life again!
You will also have fun on our walks as well as feeling supported and part of our walking for well-being community!
Our first WALK (A) of our rolling programme starts this Sunday. Please REGISTER, at the latest, on the evening before each walk.
Walking in green spaces, is about promoting physical & mental well-being as well as connecting with the environment & each other, so that our “whole” health can benefit.
We want our group walks to include everyone so that each person who walks with us, can feel comfortable to walk regularly with us, if they want to.
For this reason we will only be promoting togetherness on each walk and not clickiness!
Our walks, we hope, will provide an opportunity for everyone to de-stress & get away from every day demands & to re-energise whilst improving your physical health.
From September 2020, to start things off, we will be piloting a range of short & slightly longer, local walks ( one in the week and one at the weekend).
Winter Walks Schedule will follow the September Walks on a varied rolling programme each week.
Please register for each walk because during the Pandemic there are limits on the numbers we can have walking with us.
